We wear many hats. Unlike most product development companies we actually build most of the products we create. At least in the beginning.
We call it 'Early Market Manufacturing' and it is a key to creating successful products.
Divorcing product design from the act of manufacturing is a big mistake. Many companies choose this path in an effort to save money.
Most individual product developers do it because they have no choice. But ultimately it is a mistake that leads to most new products failing in the marketplace.
Why? Because the lifetime cost to manufacture a product is set in the earliest stages of design. If you get this wrong, there is often very little that can be done later to save costs. It's simply too easy to design something that is impossible or very expensive to build.
Our ability and willingness to manufacture the products we create separates us from most.
If you are heavily involved in the manufacturing process of the products you design, your thinking instinctively becomes more attuned to manufacturability. In other words, you know your ideas can be produced profitably.
And even if you do eventually "outsource" production to scale for rapid demand, imagine how much better you will be at negotiating with a supplier if you know what the real cost is?
We like to design things and we like to make them too. And every time we do both we get better and better.

Alphidia was founded by Mark W. Richards as an outlet for his twin passions of product development and manufacturing. Armed with 25 plus years of manufacturing and product development experience, Alphidia combines invention with manufacturing to create better versions of things folks are already looking for.
We live in an amazing time. Never before in history has so much data about what people are looking for been right at your fingertips. Google and Amazon are treasure troves of valuable search data. Alphidia takes that data and looks for gaps between what folks are looking for, what they are finding, and what they really want. Once we find that space, we design and build the better version. The product that folks wanted in the first place.

Our Brands
Some of the companies we have helped include the upcoming
SpeedyJig, QuadHands and Koova brands.
We created the original QuadHands from our own frustration using poorly made “helping hands” devices. The ones on the market were cheaply made imports, were hard to adjust, and wouldn’t hold position. In true “scratch your own itch” fashion we came up with the QuadHands.

Today this brand sports about 10 different versions, including the innovative WorkBench series which features a magnetic mounting system for the arms. Place them anywhere you want on the thick steel base (or any ferrous surface) for the ultimate in flexibility.
We design and manufacture better versions of things folks are looking for.
The concept is easy enough, the execution can be more challenging. To create a better version of something requires that we take a fresh eyes approach to a product and put ourselves in the users shoes.
How will they use this product in their lives?
We develop a story of the person we are trying to serve and then see how the product fits inside that story. What is the user really trying to get done? How can we make that experience better?
Then we create prototypes, develop the manufacturing systems, and do a soft launch to see if we got it right. If so we scale up production as needed to meet demand.
We are blessed that we are able to serve our fellow men and women with interesting products that solve a problem. A problem they may not have even realized they had until they found our better version of what they were already looking for.
